Im sure that many of you are not familiar with the fact that I believe that Hawai’i should be an independent nation.
Well, Ive felt this way since January 1996, when after we had just come back from a two-week Xmas/New Year’s vacation in Hawai’i, we received word that my uncle Mark died. We went to his funeral in St. Louis, and when we came back, I spent my time reading on Hawai’i and its history.
What I found out was so shocking to me that Ive never felt the same about the United States since then:

Now why would the United States do this? Why would they take over a nation whose sovereignty they recognized more than once? And furthermore, they never issued a declaration of abrogation of such sovereignty and independence, neither before, during, nor after they overthrew the monarchy.
This is proof that the United States canot even honor other nations and their right to sovereignty. This is fuckin’ outrageous.
Now see, when I read about Hawaii’s history, thats when I first developed a solid and realistic interest in politics.
Just a thought.
