The irony of the Internet

Just came across this while Googling for “Ovid+therianthropy”:

Reading this thread, I was kinda feeling what was being said. In fact, I agree.

The Internet, and the various modes of communication presently associated with it, has made us far more complacent with life’s complexities, and has not allowed us to articulate ourselves to others as flowingly as we would want to.

In light of this, today I’ll be wrapping up my dealings with yahoo messenger, as well as with all other messengers and software which would allow for direct real-time communication with other peers.

I dunno…I guess that I’ve gotten so used to such communication, to the point that I’m usually hung onto people being online at that particular time. As a consequence, I’ve kinda carried this demeanor to my dealings with Livejournal in that I try to inch in as much as I’m thinking into one post, then, if I have another thing to say to that same person, I’ll reply again with a “P.S.”or a “part 2”.

This ends now.

As of the 15th of September, 2005, I’m abandoning all messengers, and I’ll be sticking exclusively to stationary posting communication, such as forums, email, blogs (particularly Livejournal), and so forth. The only time that I’ll ever touch IRC (which I never really got into) is in the case that I would need help with some software, computer, or operating system.

P.S.: Screw these social networking sites, such as Multiply, hi5, and Friendster. If Yahoo tries to go any further in that direction, I’ll be nuking my account with them (even though I’ve had it since 2002, hence the name “harryo15us”).

I think that this may be the start of a regression from online communication for me.

Plus, I’ve changed my LJ e-mail address. Take a look.

Off to dinner. Mom’ll be picking me up tonight; my clothes need some *serious* washing.
