Remember Real Player? (http://real.com)
Yeah, *that* one.
Well, as much as people hate it for all its worth, I have found my inspiration for the ideal media player (which I dubbed “Windhorse”).
Features of Real which I like:
1. The combination of a media player on top with a web browser on bottom (and library, CD Rip/Burn, Playlist, and Search on the side).
2. Format universiality (plays copyrighted formats from Real, Apple, Nullsoft/AOL, and Microsoft).
3. Bookmarks for both web media and web pages.

Thus, I’ve decided that the best way to enable the most streamlined web media experience for users of Mozilla Firefox would be to
1. embed VLC Media Player directly into the top (and sides) of Firefox.
2. enable total compatibility for all formats (as long as ActiveX isn’t involved, of course).
3. Enable the bookmarking of media for Firefox.
