Back in WR

K, haven’t posted here in a bit.

Dude from Cox just installed our cable phone line (with a new, twice-as-big modem to handle both the Internet and the phone line). So we’ve pretty much gone into the VoIP revolution without a hitch.

I have a GooglePage! http://raynenamibia.googlepages.com/

I’m going to WalMart tonight to buy some fresh CD-RW’s, one of which I’m going to use to burn the install iso for Gentoo’s 2006.0 LiveCD release (now with a GUI installer!). Funny, I posted a question to on the exact same day that the developers released it: read it here.

I’m currently in the midst of the process of registration to MGTC. I’ve already given in the transcripts, the $15 in registration, and the SAT scores (although I’ll have to give them an actual copy, or at least arrange for them to be sent to the school from CollegeBoard, the administrators of the SAT and related tests; when she looked at the printout, the woman at the desk who accepts transcripts said that I could be exempted from the placement exam with such scores on my record, but the bonafide copy clause stands for that, too). Meanwhile, Mom will arrange for financial aid (all that could possibly be scraped up, that is).

I just downloaded and installed the newest update to Nullsoft’s Winamp, and all that I have to react with is this:

“um…….right.”

The Shoutcast Radio and TV libraries look completely f’ed up, which is probably my biggest gripe with this new version. Oh well…I use it for music, anyway. At least the audio and video libraries don’t look that much different.

Plus, I just got finished watching Serial Experiments Lain. Good stuff, brings back memories from ’03, when I was watching Tech TV. Currently, I’m trying to finish off Outlaw Star; then its on to Tenchi in Tokyo, and then the entire Digimon series, possibly starting off with Season 03. I’m wondering, though, about this new Digimon series (“Savers”) which will debut on Fuji TV in Japan in April; the graphics in this new installment are departing from the canon to which we have been used to (No Goggleheads in this one, I’m afraid). Also, check out this coming season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, premiering on the 17th.

Also, running on the current logic that the standard family residence has three (3) bedrooms, Mom’s thinking of turning the carport into a bedroom. Is that a common thing nowadays?

And finally, I’ll be using the Googlepage as my conduit for ideas about software and so forth. Thus, I’ll be sparing most of you all of needlessly long posts on this blog.

Anyway, that’s it.

    1. Hell yes!

While the series doesn’t possess any serious character development (that’s a rarity on American TV; well, I digress, it does go into backgrounds a bit, but its no Cowboy Bebop, that’s for certain), it does have a good storyline with a strong aesthetic to draw from (summarization: Hindu terminology, Japanese names, and Chinese martial arts).

I wonder, though, what it would be like if it were directed to the Japanese audience…

  1. I didn’t know you liked Avatar. Learn something new everyday I suppose. As for Digimon I lost interest after the 3rd season. I loved the first and third one, but the second didn’t have what I was looking for. Also since you’ve been catching up on so much anime I have alot of manga scan sites. =P
