Malaguena (12 Inch Version) – Pico

Disco 12 Inch Single: “P” Card – “Malaguena” – Pico
West End Records
1979
Produced and arranged by Mort Garson

Pico is Mort Garson – an innovative artists who released several productions during the late 60s through 1979. His electronic influence took effect in the mid 70s and in “Malaguena” is strikes with the right pulse. This is a disco gem that has always worked for me during early morning revivals or post peak hour.

Latin theme blends with the heavy bass guitar (which sounds like Celso Vali’s Azoto) and plenty of luscious percussion along with Garson’s sytnhesizers leading the pack. A very nice track and quite innovative for it’s time.

Hardcore mix by Manny Slali who made Studio One in West Hollywood the place to move in the late 70s!
