The site is a located on a hill overlooking Lake Patzquaro located about 100 kilometers from Morelia, Mexico. This is a perfect place to explore the archaeological ruins from the Tarascan Empire of 1200-1521 CE. The name Tzintzuntzan comes from the Purepecha word for “place of the hummingbirds.” The site consists of five Ya’catas round like pyramid structures.
