Metamorphosis— Animation short film (KazNUA 2021)

Animation short film “Metamorphosis. Graduation film by Aitolkyn Almenova.

This is a story about an autistic child and a young mom against the society.

To be honest, making this film wasn’t easy. Because of the pandemic I couldn’t work with a team properly and most of the work I did by myself.
I worked really hard at night because it was the only time my own child slept well. This year was tough, but I did the best I could do. I did a great job and I hope everyone likes it.

A fan suggested I do a Doja Cat Streets cover and from the moment I heard it, I knew this was gonna be dope. I fell in love with Doja Cat’s song “Streets” and live video. The video is inspired by her Streets live Vevo performance in a huge bath of milk! Of course, I can’t do ANYTHING without a Unikorn twist to it, so instead of a pink tone like Doja’s video, I went for a rainbow lighting scheme and I’m totally drooling over how this turned out. I’ve been slow to release this but excited to finally share it with you all! This was my undergratuate thesis film at UCLA as a film major with a concentration in animation, and also my first finished animated short film ever. Working on this film was a very therapeutic outlet for me in a rough time in my life, and I worked like a maniac trying to get this done within 20 weeks. I look back on it now and cringe at all the things I wish I could have done better, but I know at the time it was an immense labor of love and I did my best within the time I had to make the best film I could. Now a year later, I’m knee deep in another short film as a graduate student, and it’s exciting to see how much I’ve grown since then. While it’ll be another long while till I can share that one with you, I hope you’ll enjoy Noose!
