What is the world of the open web like, beyond the walls of dominant social media platforms? How do our experiences of the internet differ depending on where we spend our time and share our ideas? Come with us on a journey to explore the landscape of the web and get to know the people and possibilities of open source, the open web, and open opportunities.
In the spirit of open source, we would like to invite others to create versions of this meditation in their own languages so that we can share the ideas behind it globally. Learn how to contribute at https://ift.tt/2uDyIFD
Broadly released a rich and representative collection of all-new stock photography entitled: “The Gender Spectrum Collection: Stock Photos Beyond the Binary” which will be available free for all media outlets.
The collection — directed, and curated by VICE’s Broadly team and photographed by noted trans photographer/artist and producer Zackary Drucker — is made up of nearly 200 new images of trans and non binary individuals intended to portray the under-represented community without clichés (like putting on makeup or surrounded with pride or trans flags or gender-neutral bathroom signs) or defined only by their gender identities.
These are original photos depicting trans and non-binary people with careers, relationships, talents, passions, and home lives. In this video, we go behind the scenes from the shoot to meet the photographer and models involved in the project.
Photos can be accessed at: BROADLYGENDERPHOTOS.VICE.COM.
As New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continues to galvanize the left (and frustrate the right), what’s driving her unique appeal has become an increasingly compelling question. Is it her identity or her substantive politics? Or both?
Ocasio-Cortez’s embrace of democratic socialism has been emphasized by the right, which seeks to paint her as out of touch with mainstream American values. But arguably, it’s her progressive ideals that provide the basis for a human-centered politics that connect with a majority of Americans.
The Intercept’s Senior Politics Editor Briahna Gray will talk to Ocasio-Cortez about identity, the race/class divide, and how these factors are likely to play out in the years ahead.

With “Fractal Nature” I try to visualize the chaotic nature of reality. My everyday reality is the city of Amsterdam, which I captured using photogrammetry. I combined the result with the fractal formulas of Mandelbulb3D, trying to find a balance between recognition and chaos.
