A Day in the Campaign Life

Politics
  1. Drove to livestream a media event for Valerie Haskins for Georgia State Senate District 29, Leader Bob Trammell for State House and HCDC Vice-Chair Nicole Baxby at the Trade Center 📡;
  2. Went with Valerie to eat at The Simple Greek, check her postcards that I designed for a fundraiser event, and work on her questionnaire from the GEA before she left for home and then LaGrange 🕵️‍♀️;
  3. Talked to Danny Ingram on the phone for the first time in years;
  4. Drove to see if anyone was at the campaign office but, seeing no one was there, walked across the street to Emmanuel Christian Center for a “Black Voters Matter” event that I hadn’t heard about but saw signs for on the road 🤔;
  5. Met the amazing Anoa J Changa, Cliff Albright and LaTosha Brown in person 😲;
  6. Listened in to the event and got a word in about a) the need for direct democracy and the initiative process in Georgia and b) the need to repeal our School Disturbance law to substantial applause ✊;
  7. Traded contacts with few reporters for NYT, Rewire.news, etc and a poll worker 🤩;
  8. Got a big box of partisan and non-partisan cards from Black Votes Matter to pass out before they drove off in a bus 👏;
  9. Drove home to an actual apartment because I don’t know what else to do with this day (maybe have a siesta on it?) 🤯.

🎶 Gotta say today was a good day!

What is it like being black in India? BBC News

What is it like being black in India?
That’s what BBC Pop Up wanted to find out after Benjamin Pratt, a student from Sierra Leone now living in India, told us that many African immigrants are victims of racism and prejudice.
BBC journalists Christian Parkinson and Vikas Pandey joined Benjamin on the streets of Delhi to find out more but ended up in a small village in the western state of Gujarat. There they discovered a surprising and little-known culture alive and well.
Follow what BBC Pop Up is up to in India and find out how to get involved at bbc.com/popup.

Lyrics:

love forsaken
risk worth taking
spearmint flavours all my pallet shutters
i’m a member of shattered allusions & am i needless to say

but love is big & every land every nation seeks its friends in France & Italy & all across the 7 seas
& Goddam guns & guts & history & bitter love still put a put a hole in me

bite my head off still my World will always be a little risk worth taking
bite my hand off still my World will always be another risk worth taking

gotta step out a limb swallow my pride surrender & not give myself away
little measures all the time
become part of you nothing new still have full for absolutions in my day there’s no solutions

& love is big & every land every nation seeks its friends in France & Italy & all across the 7 seas
& Goddam guns & guts & history & bitter love still put a put a hole in me

bite my head off still my World will always be a little risk worth taking
bite my hand off still my World will always be another risk worth taking
