Travel to Isle de Jean Charles, an island in Terrebonne Parish that once encompassed more than 22,000 acres and for centuries was home to hundreds of Native American French-speaking families. Today, only 320 acres and 4 families remain, and it is the site of a first-of-its kind resettlement effort. The La Veillée team revisits the rationale behind the decisions leading to this relocation and investigates what the future of the island will be in the aftermath of resettlement.

“We are trying to bring a new approach to the market because as I told you – and as you told me – most of the population are not vegan, and they are not going to be,” he told i24NEWS.
“We as human beings have never in history changed our habits so dramatically – from white to black – only because we want to save the planet or the animals so we think that if we can help people, the flexitarians, who want to reduce their meat consumption but do not go all the way to become a vegan,” he continued.

Cynthia is also a health and political advocate that works with various organizations in Chicago and nationally to achieve social and economic justice for Black Freedmen Descendants, push for health equity for marginalized groups in the United States, and normalizing Atheism amongst the Black Community.
