  1. Clearly, the lion loves her. Look at his behavior: His paws are velveted, his body posture is relaxed, he moves his head like most felines do when wanting to rub (mark) the other being (human or otherwise), and the soft grunting noise is about the best that a large feline can do when it comes to purring (the vocalizing structure is different in the big cats).

    This affection is not uncommon. I don’t recommend making pets of animals who ordinarily would live in the wild. However, rescuing these great cats from horrible conditions is a noble and beautiful act. Androclese had the right idea.

    And yes—one day, I hope that I too may share such love with one or more great cats.
