Gay werewolves: a compendium

Being in the furry thing for a bit, I think that the idea of the gay werewolf is a perfect androcentric counterpart to the lesbian vampire, which is why I’m surprised that the gay werewolf hasn’t been as fully utilized as an exploitation trope as the lesbian vampire in the 20th century.

So I’m glad that someone outside of the furry fandom has gone through the trouble of creating an imaginative painting of Obama turning into a werewolf while playing basketball.

Thankfully, there’s a queer werewolf anthology, a list of gay werewolf works on another LJ, a gay werewolf on Flickr, and (I’m certain) plenty of other extra gay werewolf content to be found through Google.

  1. Gay werewolves: a compendium

You know I did read a web comic once about a straight guy who turned into a gay werewolf. It was very cute and funny. I think it was actually a “weerwolf”

    1. Actually, I think I assume a bit too often that werecats are often depicted as bi or lesbian females, as a large number of horror movies have depicted werecats as femme fatales (including The Cat People).

It may be as such because of the longer-lived horror fiction tradition of the lesbian vampire, both of which I think to be representations of the stereotype of the exceptionally strong, outwardly sleek and sexy, inwardly tortured and violent female (which, unfortunately, is often used to deride most lesbians). To be honest, however, I’ve hardly looked for (let alone found) any gay/bi male werecat depictions outside of the transformation fiction fandom; I’ll look for more depictions of gay/lesbian/bi werecat depictions in the future, though, so thanks for mentioning.
