The INNERview(Ep.187) Insooni, a singer who instills hopes _ Full Episode

Insooni is a prominent singer, who’s widely known for her mind-blowing performances on stage. The celebrated artist not only wows everyone with her powerful pipes, but is also widely acclaimed for her versatility as a singer, mastering a wide range of music styles including trot, pop and soul. As a 37-year veteran in the music industry, she has continually sought new challenges to better herself as a singer and musician, and this is why she still remains relevant despite a shift in the paradigm of the music industry.
Prior to her success in the music business, however, she faced discrimination as an Afro-Asian in the homogeneous Korean society. Based on her childhood experience, she co-founded Hae Mill School in 2013, with the aim of helping children from multicultural families overcome social prejudices and strive toward their dreams. In 2016, Insooni announced the plans to provide free education at the school to better cater to the students, who are mostly from low socioeconomic households.
The INNERview crew visited Hae Mill School to speak with Insooni about her endeavors in educating bi- and multi-racial children. We were also able to meet with the patrons of the school as well. She answered all of our questions with candor, without a moment of hesitation, and shared stories of her tumultuous life as well as the background story of entering a bodybuilding competition.
Join us on The INNERview this week for a heart-to-heart talk with Insooni, who overcame her own struggles and using her power and influence as a top singer in Korea to help young children and instill in them confidence, hopes and dreams.
